Modern
day fairy-godmother Debbie Bunn is the creative force behind
the 'Bunny London1 label. Initially concentrating
solely on make-up artistry (Debbie`s client list reads
like Who`s Who of celebrities from the world of music and
entertainment, including names like Kylie Minogue, Madonna,
Elton John, Alisha`s Attic, The Cardigans and David Bowie
to name just a few) the Bunny London label was conceived
through a combination of Debbie`s inherent love of beautiful
textiles and trimmings, and an unprecedented amount of
interest in a one-off creation made for her god-daughter
Scarlet.
Tentatively dipping into the children`s wear market,
Debbie began stocking her dresses in only the choicest,
most exclusive
children`s wear boutiques in London (as her dresses were
one-off pieces at the time, it was vital to reinforce the
sense of exclusivity of each garment).
And while doing her
make-up work, she took advantage of the endless hours hanging
around on set by hand-sewing
her beautiful
dresses. One particular artist she`d worked with
took a fancy to her dresses for her young daughter and so
Debbie sent two as gifts for the little girl.
It was only
a month later that Debbie walked past a news stand to see
her dress on the front page of every major newspaper
- the little girl was Lourdes hand in hand with her mum,
Madonna. This endorsement fanned the flames of
interest in the Bunny London label across the globe, and
soon Debbie`s dresses could be found from niche boutiques
in Japan and Rome to ultra-chic department stores such as
Bergdorf Goodman in the States.
